4th sunday

~ ~
This week, we list the Angel's Candle, the final candle of advent, & I finally finished my advent wreath. There are some obvious issues, but for my first type project, I'm going to be okay with it & leave it at that. I'll revisit it next year.

As I said, the fourth Sunday is the angel's candle–not to be confused with the shepherd's candle. These aren't the angels proclaiming Jesus' arrival. This angel is visiting Joseph & asking him to believe in the woman he loves.

It takes a lot for us to believe in each other–a lot of faith, love, forgiveness, grace, patience... & some of us (blush) require more of these if you're going to live with them. I loved this candle & going to mass on my own  (& making friends with a crazy French woman who was excited about her new mountain boots on the walk there) to think about this one.

After four months of marriage, we're learning that it takes a lot of faith in each other to make things work. Moving, looking for graduate schools & jobs, trying to navigate a foreign language/culture–it's a lot to take in. We couldn't have managed it together if we didn't feel that we could trust & communicate with the other person.

So this week, I want to say thanks to Joe. For everything. For having faith in me. For coming here with me. For marrying me. Can't wait for our first Christmas together!

The advent wreath turned out great! It's nice to see that it all came together.
